Russia\'s oil, gas companies interested in making investments in Iran

A group comprised of Russian state oil and gas companies in a meeting with deputy oil minister in gas affairs here on Monday expressed interest in making investments in Iranian gas industries.

The Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Majid Chegini, in the meeting with the Russian delegation announced Iran’s readiness for expansion of cooperation with Russia in various parts of the Iranian gas industries.

The Russian side accepting the proposal, expressed enthusiasm in making investments in Iranian gas industries, as well as swapping Iran’s natural gas to other countries, announcing that those activities are among the Russian oil and gas companies’ top priorities.

The details of the proposed fields for bilateral cooperation in gas field will be surveyed by the Iranian gas officials and further negotiations on implementing the final agreements will be held after that.

The Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji had earlier announced that a strong energy diplomacy is on his agenda, adding, "We will negotiate with various clients on boosting the country's gas exports."
