Iran highlights US disloyalty to nuclear deal in meeting: Deputy FM

Vienna, July 22, IRNA - Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi says Iran remains to emphasize Washington’s lack of commitment to the nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Araqchi made the remarks speaking to reporters at the end of the 8th JCPOA Joint Commission, held in the Austrian capital on Friday.

He pointed to the need for full implementation of the JCPOA and said that promoting a constructive atmosphere is going to convey an important message to the world.

Nuclear aspects of the JCPOA implementation as well as the issue of sanctions were also reviewed during the meeting of the Joint Commission, he said.

He went on to say that in-depth discussions have been held on modernizing Arak reactor and the Chinese delegation also elaborated in detail on the issue.

All sides appreciated Iran’s commitment to the international nuclear deal, and they acknowledged Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the deputy foreign minister said.

All the parties emphasized maintaining the Iran deal, Araqchi added.

We declared that Iran is not convinced as far as the US commitment to the deal is concerned and the Islamic Republic of Iran reserve itself the right to show appropriate reactions, the Iranian diplomat said.

Secretary General of European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid, who served as commission coordinator, also praised Iran’s commitment to the nuclear deal.
