Iran regrets the fire incident in London

Tehran, June 15, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi offered the Islamic Republic of Iran’s deep sorrow toward Grenfell Tower fire incident in London.

Qasemi, on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran, lamented the fire incident in London Grenfell Tower block and sympathized with the families of the victims of the incident.

A massive fire, which has engulfed a high-rise apartment block in west London, has left at least 12 people dead and dozens more injured, but police expect more casualties.

The fire broke out in the 24-story Lancaster West Estate tower in the early hours of Wednesday when most of the residents would have still been in bed.

The fire brigade said 45 fire engines and 200 firefighters as well as 20 ambulances were sent to the building which has 120 flats and was built in 1974, but recently underwent a major refurbishment.

London police announced the death toll is expected to rise with over a dozen patients in critical condition.
