Iran rejects rise in gas exports to Turkey

Bazargan, West Azarbaijan Prov, Dec 7, IRNA – A senior official refused claims that Iran has raised its gas exports to Turkey through Bazargan border line

Sadeq Akbarpour, head of Bazargan Gas Metering and Exporting Station, said Iran provides almost 30 percent of Turkey's need to gas and the news about increase in the number is incorrect.

According to bilateral agreement, Iran exports 30 million cubic meters of gas daily to Turkey through Bazargan station, the official said.

Gas exports to Turkey have had an ascending trend since 2008, he added.

The maximum of Iran's gas exports to Turkey is 10 billion cubic meters in a year, said he, adding there is no possibility of any increase due to the 1996 agreement.
