Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan prov, Jan 23, IRNA – Iran relying on its political, economic and cultural capacities is capable of turning into one of the biggest powers in the world, First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said here on Monday.

Jahangiri made the remarks during his opening address to an international conference on investment opportunities and sustainable development in the Makran coastal area that started work in Chabahar in this southeastern Iranian province.

During his speech, Jahangiri urged the Department of Environment to examine the country's coastal areas.

Presence of both domestic and foreign investors in the deprived areas including this province will trigger regional development, Jahangiri stressed.

The veep said development in the sea is the main factor in reaching sustainable development.

About Makran, he said the southeastern coastal area has great capacities for investment, adding the North–South Transport Corridor- a sea, rail, and road route for exchange of goods between India, Russia, Iran, Europe and Central Asia- will open the doors of interaction with the regional countries.
