Vietnam president: Economy priority in enhancement of Tehran-Hanoi ties

Tehran, March 14, IRNA – Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang said on Monday that economy and trade are priorities in enhancement of Tehran and Hanoi bilateral relations.

He made the remarks in a joint press conference with President Hassan Rouhani.

Vietnamese president called for promotion of economic ties up to 2 billion dollars in five years.

Iran and Vietnam have good potentials to increase all-out ties in fields of energy, telecommunication, technology, fishery, tourism and culture, he added.

Sang said that singing a cooperation agreement between Iran and Vietnam central banks can prepare the ground for improvement of two countries' private sectors.

Regional stability is in danger and all world states should do their best in this regard, he noted.

Regional, border and territorial conflicts should be resolved peacefully based on international rules and regulations, the official added.

Vietnamese president invited his Iranian counterpart to pay a visit to Hanoi.

In a ceremony in Sa’adabad Palace on Monday morning, Rouhani welcomed Vietnam’s president and his accompanying delegation to the country.

Vietnamese president arrived in Tehran on Sunday afternoon.

Vietnamese president, upon arrival, welcomed nuclear deal between Iran and G5+1 and said implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) would bring peace and stability to the region as well as the entire globe.

Trade between Iran and Vietnam increased from dlrs 80 million in the year 2010 to dlrs 300 million in the year 2013.

Iran has already voiced readiness to make investment in Vietnam's state-run as well as private projects.

Vietnam and Iran established relations in 1973 and have increased level of political and economic cooperation through exchange of visits by senior officials from both sides.

Iran opened embassy in Hanoi in 1991 and Vietnam opened its embassy in Tehran in 1997.
