Ambassador: Iran-Australia ties on positive course in post-sanction era

Kuala Lumpur, March 14, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador in Australia Abdolhossein Vahaji evaluated the trend of Iran-Australia relations “positive” in the post-sanctions era and said the two countries are taking steps towards strengthening and expanding relations after the removal of sanctions.

Speaking to IRNA on the eve of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s visit to Sydney and Canberra, the ambassador said the visit will somehow strengthen political readiness of the two sides for development of relations in response to the forthcoming visit to Tehran of the Australian Foreign and Trade Minister, Julie Bishop.
During his two-day stay in Australia, Zarif with meet and confer with the officials of the country with an aim of developing relations, economic ties in particular.
On Tuesday, Zarif is expected to attend the foreign relations, defense and trade commission in the parliaments. Later he will be guest of honor at a luncheon to be given by his Australian counterpart and deliver speeches at both events.
On Wednesday Zarif will depart for Sydney, the largest and oldest Australian city with a population of about five million people, which is located 287 km from Canberra, the capital city.
While in Sydney, Zarif will attend an Austrade meeting and will deliver a speech in presence of tradesmen and owners of industries of the country.
