US hails Iran’s compliance with JCPOA

US State Department spokesman John Kirby said Iran has so far made good on its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers.

“What matters to us is that they are in fact meeting their commitments,” Kirby said Monday during his daily press briefing as cited by the official website of the US Department of State, Tasnim News Agency Reported.

“But as long as Iran continues to meet its commitments under the JCPOA that’s what matters, and that’s what we want to see. And while I will let the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) speak to their reports, including this one, we’ve certainly seen no indication that they are not meeting their commitments under the JCPOA, and that’s what matters most,” he added, referring to a recent report released by the IAEA on Iran’s compliance with the nuclear deal.

In his introductory statement to the Board of Governors on Monday, the IAEA chief Yukiya Amano once again reaffirmed the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, saying the body has no indications of a diversion of nuclear material toward non-civilian purposes.

Amano said the IAEA "has been verifying and monitoring the implementation by Iran of its nuclear-related commitments", adding it was satisfied.
