Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Petrochemical Affairs Behzad Mohammadi says active petrochemical facilities are busy producing up to 53,600,000 tons of petrochemicals now.

Petroleum Ministry website on Wednesday quoted Mohammadi as puting number of the active petrochemical facilities at 54 and said his ministry had enforced 34 petrochemical projects with more than 20 percent progress.

Mohammadi said, 'Out of 53,600,000 tons of petrochemicals yielded by the petrochemical facilities, 30,700,000 tons can be sold.' 

The Managing Director of the National Petrochemical Company said five billion dollars worth petrochemicals have been offered to domestic market in 2018, noting that the value of last year's petrochemical products was 17.1 billion dollars.

Last year, export of petrochemicals earned the country about $ 12 billion, showing the valuable position of petrochemicals in the country's industry and economy.

According to him, the petrochemical industry is one of the first priorities of the country's economy.
