Official: Iran one of Iraq’s major trade partners

An Iraqi official described Iran as one of the major commercial partners of Iraq, calling for promoting mutual relations.

Vice Chairman of Sulaymaniyah’s Chamber of Commerce Yasin Rahim Faraj added in a meeting with Kermanshah Governor General late on Sunday, “We concluded good deals in the field of economic cooperation with the Iranian colleagues.”

Increasing synergy among the Iraqi Sulaymaniyah’s tradesmen and their Kermanshahi counterparts as well as talks with the provincial officials to prepare the ground for economic exchanges were among the objectives pursued during the visit, he said.

Sulaymaniyah’s influential economic activists are present in the trip, as all of them are seeking to engage with one of the major regional countries, that’s to say Iran, he said.

Rahim Faraj also welcomed presence of the Iraqi tradesman in Qasr-e Shirin special economic zone, saying that the zone is set up to incentivize the investors.

He hoped that Sulaymaniyah’s governor general will soon visit Kermanshah in a bid to promote bilateral relations.
Kermanshah province with 371 kilometers of joint borders with Iraq handles half of Iran’s exports to Iraq.
