Tehran, Nov 28, IRNA - The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) drilled over 126,000 meters of oil and gas wells over eight months from March 21-November 21.

According to Mohammad Ale-Khamis, the deputy head of the company, 126,899 meters of oil and gas wells were spud during the period in onshore and offshore fields, Shana reported.

He said 98 wells were either drilled or repaired during the period.

The official added that of these wells, 44 pertained to development projects.

In September, the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) announced that it had handed over projects to NIDC for drilling eight exploration wells in unnamed onshore fields.

“The venture was granted to NIDC following its participation in NIOC’s tender, held by the company’s Exploration Department,” Karamali Naderi, the deputy head of NIOC, was also quoted as saying by Shana.

Naderi added that the department is expected to confirm the process, after which the two sides will finalize an agreement.

He noted that as per plans, two heavy onshore drilling machinery will be used to implement the project.
