Beirut, Jan 24, IRNA – Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri on Wednesday underlined that his country favors best relationship with Iran.

Speaking at World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland late on Wednesday, Hariri, however, urged an end to what he called Iran's interference in Yemen. He claimed this would open the door for dialogue.

The Lebanese premier's remarks came at a time when many consider Saudi Arabia as the main factor behind Yemeni crisis by imposing a war on the impoverished nation.

Al-Hariri, whose resignation in Saudi Arabia caused a hue and cry and many believed that was due to pressure from Riyadh, said, his relationship with Saudi Arabia is at its best. He said the reason why he withdrew his resignation and returned to Lebanon was that Lebanese groups had agreed to disassociate from regional disputes.

Good ties are in the interest of Lebanon, he said, noting, “We have had historic ties and interests with these countries.”

As to US recent moves against Lebanon including increasing financial sanctions against Hizbollah, he said that the US has focused on Hizbollah and it does not target Lebanon’s economy.

Commenting on developments in Palestine and Quds, he said, “Our stance on Quds is crystal clear. All the world knows that the city is not the capital of Israel and US decision to recognize it as Israeli capital is not correct.”
