Polypropylene homopolymers are thermoplastic resins produced through the polymerization of propylene. C 30 S is a polypropylene homopolymer with good flow properties and is particularly suitable for the extrusion of film yam, monofilament, cast film and sheet. From among the applications of C30C we can name baler twines, packaging twines, ropes, monolayer or coextruded film for packaging, thin sheet for stationery folders, sheet for thermoforming and extrusion of straws.
Polypropylene Homopolymer (HOMO PP) is a translucent, odorless or with a slight waxy odor thermoplastic. Homo PP is the most widely utilized general-purpose grade. Polypropylene Homopolymer contains only Propylene monomer in a semi-crystalline solid form. Since Homo PP is made with polymerization of Propylene alone, it has uniform tacticity, and thus features excellent stiffness and thermal resistance.
Homopolymer is more rigorous and more resistant to Copolymers at high temperatures, but the impact strength of Homopolymer at a temperature below zero is very limited. Homo PP has high strength to weight ratio and it is stiffer and stronger than Copolymer. Homopolymer has good chemical resistance and weldability and good processability.
Compared to low or high-density Polyethylene, Polypropylene Homopolymer has a lower impact strength, but superior working temperature and tensile strength. Noted for its excellent chemical resistance in corrosive environments, Homo PP provides excellent resistance to organic solvents, degreasing agents and electrolytic attack. Polypropylene Homopolymer is light in weight, resistant to staining, and has a low moisture absorption rate.
Homo PP is a Homopolymer of Propylene and it is a more cost-effective material compared to Propylene Copolymers (PP-impact and PP-random). Polypropylene Homopolymer has good electrical insulation properties.
Applications:
The high melting point also makes HOMO PP resins especially suitable for applications requiring temperature resistance (e.g. hot filling or steam sterilization). Polypropylene Homopolymer resins are available in a wide viscosity range and therefore can be used in all processing technologies ranging from pipe extrusion to thin wall injection molding.
The Homopolymers can be used in different processing technologies, such as injection molding, blow molding, film, fiber, sheet extrusion and thermoforming. Main applications of Polypropylene Homopolymer include packaging, household goods, textiles, healthcare, pipes, automotive and electrical applications.
Homopolymer Polypropylene usage in food contact is acceptable and it is also suitable for corrosion resistant structures.
Storage:
Store Polypropylene Homopolymer in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from sunlight, UV light and incompatible substances. Store Homo PP in a tightly closed container. Polypropylene Homopolymer should be stored in dry condition at ambient temperature, temperature below 40°C.
