Aluminium Powder

Aluminium Powder has a variety of uses in industry, including plastics, metal and furniture coating, printing, oil paint, and acrylic paint.

Aluminum Powder also known as Silver Powder is a light, silvery-white to gray, odorless powder. Aluminum Powder is a non-toxic, non-magnetic and highly flammable, reactive material.

The Aluminum Powder is manufactured in several forms such as flake-like particles, granular powder (atomized Aluminum) etc. Aluminum Powder was originally produced by crushing the metal in a stamp mill to get Aluminum flakes. The powder is produced by using a gas furnace to melt Aluminum ingot. The molten metal is then sprayed into a fine powder under high pressure. Aluminum is a good conductor of both heat and electricity.

Aluminum Powder uses include the production of a diverse assortment of products such as solar panels, suntan lotion and lightweight concrete. Aluminum Powder is also a key ingredient in the production of fireworks and explosives. Aluminum Powder is also included in a myriad of paints and sealants.

Aluminum Powder is used as a blasting agent and rocket fuel, as alkyl catalysts in the production of biodegradable detergents, as a precursor for Aluminum Chlorhydroxide and Aluminum Glycinate which are constituents of deodorants and anti-perspirants, as fillers for epoxies and as pigments in paints, acrylic or oil paint, metal coatings, protective coatings and printing inks.

A lot of paints also use Aluminum Powder. Its purpose when used with such paints is to give the paint a metallic sheen. Aluminum can make the paint look more appealing by producing a spectacular silver appearance.

Aluminum Powder is also used as a key component in metallurgy. The method basically involves addition of the powder to a molten metal.

Storage:

Keep Aluminum Powder in cool and dry place at a temperature below the flash point of the solvent. Aluminum powder should be stored in the original shipping containers and kept tightly sealed. Aluminum Powder should not be stored in areas containing flammable liquids or other combustible materials. Keep Aluminum Powder away from incompatible materials such as oxidizers.
