Lead Octoate

Lead Octoate is a clear to yellowish liquid.Lead Octoate is used as drier or additive for paints, coatings and inks.Lead Octoate is an auxiliary and deep drier that increases flexibility.

Applications:

Lead drier is seldom used alone but is used in combination with an active drier to decrease the total drying time. Lead in combination with Cobalt and Calcium are suggested, particularly for long oil Alkyds. When Lead is used with Cobalt or Calcium Octoate it is advisable to add Calcium Octoate first to eliminate possibility of Lead Octoate to react with Phthalic Anhydride which could form Lead Phthalate.

In exterior paints and floor finishes Lead is used along with Manganese to produce tough and hard film. Lead Octoate is also used in Polyurethane finishes as auxiliary drier. Lead drier improves the drying time of Linseed oil.

Lead Octoate is an effective polymerization drier, causing the film to dry in its entire thickness. Lead also improves flexibility, toughness, durability and water resistance of the film.

Lead Octoate is used as catalyst for chemical reactions (polymerization, esterification, oxidation, condensation, hydrogenation and other reactions) and catalystic special applications in lubricant and grease additives, fuel combustion additives to enhance and stabilize the performance of fuels.

Lead Octoate is used as rubber adhesion promoter and also a promoter for unsaturated Polyester to cure Polyester resins. Lead Octoate is used as catalysts in the production of rigid, flexible Polyurethanes and Elastomers.

Safety:

As Lead is toxic in nature its usage in toys and edible film packaging is to be avoided. Vapor concentrations above recommended exposure may be irritating to the eyes, respiratory tract and may cause headache and dizziness.

Handling and Storage:

Keep container of Lead Octoate closed when not in use. Use Lead Octoate only in a well-ventilated Area. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Lead Octoate has to be stored under the room temperature and away from light. Do not store Lead Octoate near heat, sparks or open flames.
