Hydrocarbon Resin C5

Hydrocarbon Resins or Petroleum Resins are amorphous thermoplastic polymers produced by polymerization of unsaturated Hydrocarbons. The three main types are C5 Aliphatic, C9 Aromatic, and Dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) Cycloaliphatic Resins. They are sometimes hydrogenated to reduce discoloration and to improve their heat and UV stability.

Aliphatic Hydrocarbon Resins (C5 Resins) have a light yellow to light brown color and possess excellent heat stability. Petroleum resins have low molecular weight.

C5 Resins are Aliphatic in nature and are, therefore, fully compatible with natural rubber, most Olefins (LDPE) and many synthetic Elastomers of low polarity. C5 Resins are available in a wide range of molecular weights and softening points.

Hydrocarbon Resins provide several technical advantages, such as, good flowability, good abrasion performance, speedy desiccation, good color stability, light color, good in other performances such as weather-proof, smudge resistance, adhesion.

Applications:

Hydrocarbon Resins are used as performance modifiers and homogenizing agents. C5 Resins are extensively used in the manufacture of rubbers, coatings, printing inks, and adhesives, tapes, sealant, rubber and tire.

The largest market for Hydrocarbon Resins is hot melts road marking paint, thermoplastic road marking paint, traffic paint, Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) tapes and labels. C5 Resins are important ingredients in many rubber adhesive formulations, particularly synthetic rubbers that are less tacky than natural rubber.

C5 Resins improve tack, peel strength, and increase the glass transition temperature, which in turn improves shear strength. In paints, Hydrocarbon Resins provide superior pigment wetting, enhanced adhesion, gloss, and film hardness.

Storage: C5 Hydrocarbon Resin is non-hazardous product. Petroleum Resin should be stored in ventilated, cool, dry, clean place with fire-fighting facilities, far away from fire, sunshine, moisture and pollution. The normal temperature in the warehouse must not be more than 35 ℃, and humidity must not be more than 85%.

With properly storage conditions, the effective storage period of C5 Resins is one year.
