Titanium dioxide with the chemical formula TiO2 is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium. Titanium dioxide in the form of a usable refined powder is mainly manufactured by the chloride and sulfate processes on natural rutile or anatase. It is mainly used as pigment in paints, coatings, plastics, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals and provides maximum whiteness and opacity. R-980 is a rutile sulfate processed TiO2 that offers superior durability, excellent tinting strength and is easy to disperse. R-980 is suitable for various applications such as exterior paints and rigid PVC-coatings, interior applications and various plastics such as Polyorefine and ABS.

Titanium Dioxide R-980 (TiO2 R-980) is an odorless, white powder, rutile Sulfate processed Titanium Dioxide which has been treated with Aluminum Oxide and Silicon Dioxide.  R-980 is insoluble in water and dilute Alkaline solutions. Its opacity and tinting strength make Titanium Dioxide the most widely used white pigment in the world with major applications in paints, paper, plastics and printing inks.

Titanium Dioxide R-980 has high dispersion, high weather resistance and light resistance, high covering power and good stability. R-980 has good pigment properties with high level of whiteness, lightening power, gloss, hiding power and tinting strength. R-980 shows wonderful lubricity, dispersibility and heat-resistance during resin processing.

Rutile type is the most stable crystal habit of Titanium Dioxide. Comparing to Anatase Titanium Dioxide, Rutile has higher hardness, density, dielectric constant and refractive index. As a slightly smaller medium particle size, R-980 is also associated with a unique bluish tone. R-980 offers superior durability with its crystal stabilization with Aluminum.

Applications:

Titanium Dioxide R-980 is a multi-purpose grade suitable in a wide range of applications from interior and exterior wall latex paints, industrial coating, to printing inks, laminated paper, masterbatch, powder coating and various kinds of plastics and rubber applications.

TiO2 R-980 is especially recommended for macromolecular Polymer system, including exterior rigid Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), PVC profiles, Polyolefin and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) where maximum durability is required.

R-980 provides opacity and durability to paint, while helping to ensure the longevity of the paint and protection of the painted surface.

Titanium Dioxide R-980 can help minimize the brittleness, fading and cracking that can occur in plastics and other materials as a result of light exposure. In paper industry Titanium Dioxide is used to coat paper, making it whiter, brighter and more opaque.

Storage:

Titanium Dioxide R-980 is a non-flammable, non-toxic and non-hazardous substance. Keep R-980 in a cool, dry condition. Avoid breathing dust when handling TiO2, and wash with soap and water in case of skin contact. Titanium Dioxide R-980 should not be stored outside or exposed to moisture.
