Linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) is a blended form of LDPE that offers improved properties such as more flexibility, more tensile strength, higher impact strength, more conformability and higher resistance to unfavorable environment. LL0209AA is an LDPE copolymer containing butene-1 as a co-monomer. It is a general-purpose LLDPE grade which contains antioxidant and is suitable for blending with conventional LDPE. Film made from pure LL 02090 AA has the following advantages over conventional LDPE => better sealing, higher puncture resistance, greater drawdown capability, lower seal shrinkage, and higher tensile strength. This grade can be used for food grade, heave duty sacks, agricultural films, liners and bags.

Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) is a translucent, odorless, non-flammable, non-reactive solid. LLDPE is very flexible with a high impact strength and chemical resistance.

The popularity of Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) is due to its higher tensile strength and superior impact and puncture resistance than its Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) rival. This has allowed converters to make thinner films without sacrificing strength, saving material and reducing costs. LLDPE’s good toughness relative to other products has also opened up new application areas.

Linear Low Density Polyethylene has been quite successful in replacing Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE). However, LLDPE is not as easy to process as LDPE and it has poorer clarity. As a result, converters often use blends with LDPE to improve these properties.

Applications:

Linear Low Density Polyethylene majorly goes into film applications such as food and non-food packaging, shrink/stretch film and non-packaging uses. The trend in food packaging films is towards high performance film structures that are less permeable to increase shelf life and enhance flavors. Growth is occurring from the transition of items packaged in rigid containers to high quality flexible packages.

LLDPE is being used in extrusion coating applications where it helps protect the contents of liquid containers, primarily for paper and paperboard packaging. Non-food packaging applications are requiring stronger films such as consumer, industrial and agricultural uses.

The injection molding sector, which accounts for around 5% of LLDPE demand, has outlets such as lawn and garden products, kitchen accessories, luggage and furniture parts, recreational products and toys.

Storage:

Store Linear Low Density Polyethylene in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from sources of heat, flame, sparks and UV light. Keep LLDPE at room temperature, at temperature below 50 °C.
