Titanium Dioxide Dupont R105

Titanium dioxide with the chemical formula TiO2 is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium. Titanium dioxide in the form of a usable refined powder is mainly manufactured by the chloride and sulfate processes on natural rutile or anatase. It is mainly used as pigment in paints, coatings, plastics, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals and provides maximum whiteness and opacity. Ti- Pure R-105 is a rutile titanium dioxide pigment manufactured by the chloride process. It features an excellent combination of brightness, neutral undertone and moderate tinting strength. R-105 is recommended for outdoor plastics, especially PVC window profile applications.

Titanium Dioxide R-105 is a fine, dry, odorless powder rutile Titanium Dioxide pigment. R-105 is manufactured by the Chloride process that produces a bright Titanium Dioxide with excellent opacity. Rutile Titanium Dioxide is the most widely used white pigment.

R-105 is the maximum durable grade of Titanium Dioxide recommended for all applications that require outdoor service life. Titanium Dioxide R-105 is specially designed for outdoor plastic applications, combining neutral undertone with moderate opacity strength for easy color formulation work.

R-105 technology has optimized Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) encapsulation for durability within the plastic matrix. By providing a uniform, complete coating of the Titanium Dioxide surface, the Silicon Dioxide layer acts as a barrier to prevent the surface of the Titanium Dioxide from reacting with the polymer or additives.

This is especially important in outdoor applications where the UV energy absorbed by the Titanium Dioxide particle may induce photocatalytic reactions. Titanium Dioxide R-105 is also treated with an organic-based material to provide excellent bulk flow and processing while minimizing the hygroscopic nature of inorganically coated Titanium Dioxide.

Titanium Dioxide R-105 has high opacity strength and neutral undertone which provides the best flexibility in matching existing color tint formulas, and produces clean, bright color.

R-105 has superior weather resistance, outstanding properties in molding and extrusion resins, very high dispersibility in plasticized Vinyl, plasticizers, and liquids, flocculation resistance, good gloss retention and resistance to chromophore formation.

Applications:

Titanium Dioxide R-105 optical performance is exceptionally useful for exterior PVC products. R-105 is recommended for outdoor plastics, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) window profile applications, rigid interior, flexible, and plastisol PVC, as well as PVC used for composite and sheet flooring, Lead-stabilized PVC systems and non-chalking exterior PVC.

R-105 is used for durable exterior Polyethylene or Polypropylene and also injection molding, blow molding, and blown film of Polyethylene or Polypropylene.

Storage:

Keep container of Titanium Dioxide R-105 tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Avoid breathing R-105 dust.

In the manufacture of Titanium Dioxide, product is packaged at temperatures of approximately 100 to 120°C (212 to 248°F). When the pigment is shipped shortly after manufacture, it may stay hot for a very long time depending on ambient temperatures.
