Castor Oil

First Special Grade Castor Oil or Refined Castor Oil (FSG) is produced by refining Commercial Grade Castor Oil through bleaching and filtering process. Bleaching helps in reducing coloring pigments or impurities and moisture content.

Refined Castor Oil First Special Grade is fatty oil extracted from castor beans (Ricinus Communis), a large shrub that grows mainly in India, Brazil and China. The seed has an oil content of 40-50%. Castor Oil is extracted by pressing followed by solvent extraction.  

Castor Oil is traditionally used as a laxative. Organic Castor Oil is native of Ethiopia and is produced in India, Brazil, Africa, Asia, Europe and USA.

Pure, refined castor oil (F.S.G.) is a pale yellow, viscous clear liquid with the following technical characteristics:

Moisture and Volatile: %0.25 Max.

Free Fatty Acid: %1.00 Max.

Acid Value: 2.00 Max.

Iodine Value: 82 – 90

Saponification Value: 177 – 185

Hydroxyl Value: 158-163 Min.

Relative density 30: 0.954-0.960

Unsaponifiable Matter: %0.70 Max.

Color in 5 ¼ Lvibond: Y- 20.0 Max.  R- 2.0 Max

Application:

In earlier days Refined Castor Oil was used primarily for medicinal purposes for constipation. Now todays era these products are found to have widespread applications in industries like Urethanes, Polyurethane, Agricultural, Pharmaceuticals, Food Additives, Cosmetics, Perfumery, Paints and Dyes, Adhesives, Polymers & Rubber, Plastics, Grease, Industrial Oil, Engine Oil, Brake Fluid, Hydraulic Fluid, Lubricants, Paper & Inks, Electronics and Telecommunications, Chemical Industries and Bio-Diesel.

Storage:

 Castor Oil can be stored 12 months from date of packaging according to the following storage conditions:

Castor Oil must be kept in original unopened packages, protected from light and moisture, inside a covered place. Store Castor Oil at room temperature.
